By staying healthy we can all live life to the fullest. Your optometrist helps to keep your eyes healthy by examining the inside and outside of your eyes. A look at your internal eye health can also uncover underlying health issues, some of which are life threatening, such as high blood pressure, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
During a comprehensive eye exam, your optometrist examines the tissues and structures inside the eye looking for eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma or macular degeneration. Many common eye diseases have no early signs or symptoms and can’t be otherwise discovered without a comprehensive eye exam.
